CHARCOAL & PENCIL DRAWING
I’ve been a fan of Edgar Degas for many years and visited the Degas and the Ballet exhibition at the Royal Academy in the autumn of 2011. A few weeks ago, I wrote about drawing lemons at my pastel class at Bolton College. I was pleased therefore when we looked at Degas and his feathery style tonight.
Here is Degas’ original version of Dancer Adjusting Her Slipper which he started in 1880 and finished in 1885. (By comparison, I took about an hour for my version.)
Here is my version. The card we used unfortunately was much greyer than the substrate used by Degas and I had to shade in areas which he had left.
